Prince of Wales Museum Mumbai
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya formerly known as The Prince of Wales Museum is one of the most prominent museums in Mumbai city. The museum is located nearby The Gateway of India and is built in the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture. Museum is surrounded by lush green garden and palm trees and is a famous tourist spot in the city.

Sprawling over an area of 3 acres of land it is built of basalt and kurla stone with a central entrance porch and cluster of pinnacles, topped with miniature domes surrounding the central dome. The Museum showcases about approximately 50,000 exhibits of ancient Indian history divided into the category of Art, Archaeology and Natural History. You can find here the antiques of the time of Indus Valley Civilizations and also relics from the time of the Guptas, Mauryas, Chalukyas and Rashtrakuta.
Today this building is listed a Grade I Heritage Building and has been awarded the ‘2010 UNESCO Asia – Pacific Heritage Award’ for Cultural Heritage Conservation. It has been awarded first place for Heritage Building Maintenance by the Indian Heritage Society.
