Basilica of Bom Jesus is one the gorgeous churches located in Goa. The Basilica was constructed in 1605 by a skilled sculptor from Florence Giovanni Battista Foggini. The Church is world famous for housing the tomb and mortal remains of St Francis Xavier. The body is allowed for public viewing in every 10 years. The church also houses a Bom Jesus Basilica Art Gallery that showcases exquisite artworks.

The Basilica of Bom is Jesus is a great example of Baroque architecture in Goa. The impressive facade built out of black granite is a beautiful combination of the Doric, Corinthian and composite styles are amazing. The interior of the church is built in Mosaico-Corinthian style and is incredible for its appeal. The floors have been made out of white marble. There are two chapels, a main altar and a sacristy besides a choir inside the Church itself. At the entrance below the choir is an altar of St. Anthony and to the left is an unusually well-carved wooden statue of St. Francis Xavier.
There is no entry fee to visit the Church.
