The Hawa Mahal is one of the renowned places of Jaipur. Located in the heart of Royal city, the imposing structure was constructed by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799 of Kachhwaha Rajput dynasty. Situated magnificently in the middle of the busy Johari Bazaar, Hawa Mahal reminds the vibrant history of Jaipur.The main motive behind the creation of the Mahal was to facilitate the royal women and give them a sight of daily life through the windows, as they never come out in public.The Palace also houses an archaeological museum.
Hawa Mahal is the personification of Rajputana architecture. The palace has been constructed of Red and Pink Sandstone by Lal Chand Ustad and has been built in the form of the crown of Krishna, the Hindu lord. The main accent of the palace is its pyramid shape and the 953 windows known as ‘Jharokhas’ which are adorned with intricate designs. Visitors can enter the Hawal Mahal via imperial door which opens into a large courtyard.
