The Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary is an impressive natural lake with shallow waters and muddy lagoons located near Sanand Village in Gujarat. It was declared as the bird sanctuary in April 1969. There are around 250 varieties of wetland birds, along with the winter and spring visitors like Pelicans, White Storks, Rosy Flamingoes, Brahminy Ducks and Herons that gives a terrific look to the sanctuary. It also shelters the highest populace of waterfowl in India.
The Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary also offers attractive pleasure and leisure services like boating, camping, angling, animal rides and much other gladness. Recently, on 24/09/12 the significant Nalsarovar Lake has been declared as the Ramsar Convention Wetland of International importance. The Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary is open from November to February, but the best time to visit this sanctuary is in the months of December and January.
