Ahom Raja’s Palace is located in Garhgoan the capital which was the key seat of the Ahoms for more than four centuries. The narrative sources allude that Suklengmung, the fifteenth Ahom lord built the capital at Garhgoan and developed a royal residence with wood and other impermanent material in the year 1540 AD. Later, Pramatta Singha built a brick divider and brick work entryway in the capital complex. The present multistoried building was fabricated by ruler Rajeswar Singha in 1752 AD. The fortress and the regal complex were severely harmed and deformed because of procurement of crude materials for building from the landmark.
The landmark is four- storied building and the top floor has a dome-like roof with a chamber. It had four watch towers initially of which now no one but two could be seen. The ground floor has three west-bound lobbies.
Ahom Raja’s Palace Timings
Tourist can visit the Raja Palace from sunrise to sunset and the Entrance fee are : Citizens of India and visitors of SAARC (Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Maldives and Afghanistan) and BIMSTEC Countries (Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Myanmar) – Rs. 5 per head while for other national it is : $2 or Rs.100/
