Alleppey is a district located in the district of the state of Kerala in India. It is also known as Alappuzha in the local language. This city is a major tourist destination of the state and this is often called the ‘Venice of the East’ due to the canals that connect it to Kerala’s famous twisting backwaters. This city has a glorious past as it is associated with the kings, and most importantly you will love this place because of its soothing and calm weather. The temperature of this place allows you to enjoy the most of the tourism as it never goes beyond the tolerance.

Why visit Alleppey?

 

  • Alleppey is such a place where you can enjoy not only the natural beauty but also many places that are no less than a good surprise. You can definitely visit the Champakulam which is a village situated in this place and known as teh Kallorkkaduangadi. You can see a very ancient church in this place which is the St Mary Forane Church and this was built in the 427 AD. This church is famous for its beautiful mural paintings which will be a center of attraction for the spectators.In this village, you can see the Nadubhagum and Champakulam snake boats which are popular to be seen as the emblem of Kerala as they participate in the annual snake boat races.
  • Like other cities of Kerala Alleppey is also a city of temples but it is less conservative than other parts as it allows the Foreigners to enter the temple ( only which are not so ancient). In Kerala, they actually do not allow the foreigners or the Non-Hindus to enter the premises for the religious reasons.
  • You can visit the Karimadi Kuttan which is a place famous for a black granite Buddha which was made in the 9th century and this statue is especially conserved by the Archeological Survey of India.
  • You cannot miss the Marari Beach or the Mararikulam beach which is famous for its beauty and this place is also famous for its Mahadeva Temple and Churches.
  • In Alleppey you cannot miss the Main beach which is extremely beautiful and you can go for free pony rides and camel rides year as people also play beach volleyball here.

  • If you are at Alleppey then do visit the medical spa and wellness center over here as you will get a rejuvenation treatment here for both your mind and body.
  • Do not forget to take a boat ride in this place as you can rent for a single boat for up to 3 to 4 hours and the experience will be fantastic and you can view the open natural sceneries of the surroundings.
  • In Kerala do not forget to eat the local cuisines which are really relishing and made with fresh coconut and curry leaves. And most importantly do not forget to taste drink coffee in various restaurants of Alleppey as this is the signature drink of the state
