Every year lakhs of devotees visit the Amarnath Temple to pay reverence to Icy Shiva Lingam. The Shiva Lingam is created when the water drops from the roof get gathered and start to freeze on the floor. The place is also famous for the festival of Shravani Mela which is held during the months July-August. Helicopter services are also available to reach the cave. The journey is not appropriate for physically unfit and for kids. There are tents set up by the localities which can be hired for rest or accommodation. Also, take high-calorie food items like chocolates and dry fruits to fight with the cold and as easy energy replacements.
