AP State Museum or Hyderabad Museum is the oldest museum located at Hyderabad’s Public Garden. The Nizam had built the palace for one of his daughters, and it was called the “Doll’s House”. However, due to a superstition, the daughter did not occupy the palace. In 1930, Nizam VII Mir Osman Ail Khan, wanted to preserve the Hyderabad’s state’s heritage, had named the museum as Hyderabad Museum.
The museum is beautiful constructed in Indo-Saracenic style of architecture and comprises of range of well-structured chambers and galleries. The museums showcases an exquisite collection of rare arts and antiquities of different phases of human history and civilization.
Some of the main attractions of the museums are Egyptian mummy , the daughter of the sixth pharaoh of Egypt, which was donated by the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad. The museum also have huge galleries of Buddhist and Hindu artefacts dating back to last century.
