There are two major things that need to be planned when you get married. First is the wedding itself, and the second is the honeymoon.  The honeymoon is the time where the couple will kick off their new life together, typically in some exotic location that provides them with Instagram-worthy views. Usually, the couple will take anywhere from a week to two weeks and explore a new part of the world that they’ve never been to.

Now, you know you’ve done it to other people and it’ll probably happen to you too. Whenever you find out that someone is getting married, one of the most commonly asked questions is “Where are you taking your honeymoon?”  Even though this seems like a super easy question to respond to, there are so many places out in the world that it can be hard to settle on a specific location. So, if you are getting married soon but don’t know where you’re going to kick off your new life, here are a few suggestions of best honeymoon places around the world. Now, it’s no secret that beaches are an extremely popular choice for newlywed couples looking for some r&r after months of wedding planning. But, why Jamaica? What makes it so special? Islands.com says that every year, Jamaica sees a record-breaking number of visitors. If you hope to meet other newlywed couples from around the world, head to Jamaica’s new Breathless Montego Bay Resort & Spa. This adults-only resort is home to the country’s only rooftop bar.  If you’re looking for something a little more all-inclusive, Royalton Negril and Jewel Grande Montego Bay Resort & Spa are two great options.

Paris is the city of love, views,  and some amazing food. The Knot says you can hop on a tour bus that will take you to all of the key Paris locations like the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame. Bring a lock with you and head down to the Lock Bridge, where you can truly show your significant other that you love them and will love only them until the end of time.

Since it is France, you have to make it a point to try the customary dishes. These include Croque Monsieur and the ever-famous escargot. Now, if eating snails don’t really seem like anything you and your new husband or wife would thoroughly enjoy, there are plenty of other options out there. Just remember, France is a foreign country and their main language isn’t English. So, you might want to take a few French lessons before heading on your trip.

Downton Abbey Fans: Check this One Out

One place that is unexpectedly romantic and perfect for your honeymoon is Orkney, Scotland. Savannah is the perfect place to help you kick back and recover from the wedding (honestly, you’re going to need it.) The area is full of romantic bed & breakfasts, inns, and hotels that will provide you with a good night’s sleep and some delicious food. You can tour the area and learn all about it’s extensive history.

A horse and carriage will be available for you to take around the city. If that doesn’t seem like something you’d like, you can take a ride about 30-minutes outside of the city and swim with dolphins! It’s a city that can accommodate to any need.

For the Undecided

If you’re stuck between a beach vacation or a city getaway, Cape Town, South Africa is the place for you. It’s the best option if you’re looking for water, wineries, views, and a little hustle and bustle. Take a 90-minute drive to Cape of Good Hope for some amazing views of the most southern part of Africa. If you love penguins, you’re going to love Boulders Beach, as it is a place where warm-weather penguins flock to and reside.

From the culture to the iconic views, you can get a little bit of everything in Cape Town. You can have the option to stay in a hotel, or rent a home along the shore to live like a local. It’s a great choice for a honeymoon and a great break from reality, if only for a little bit.

Your honeymoon is the perfect excuse for getting out of normalcy with your significant other for a little while and trying something new.
