The City Palace Jaipur is one of the most famous heritage structures of the city which showcase the vision of Jaipur Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh . It is in the central-northeast part of the Jaipur city. The palace is a blend of Mughal and Rajput architecture and the ex-royal family still lives in a part of the palace. The main structures inside the palace are Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal. This palace built between 1729 and 1732 used to be the seat of the Maharaja of Jaipur.

 

The Palace complex comprises of majestic and beautiful palaces, pavilions, gardens and temples of which some of the most prominent one are Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, Mukut Mahal, Maharani’s Palace, Shri Govind Dev Temple and the City Palace Museum.

Inside City Palace Jaipur

City Palace have three entrance gates namely Virendra Pol, Udai Pol near Jaleb chowk and the Tripolia Gate. Mubarak Mahal Located next to entrance gates is built in Rajput and European architectural styles , next is a is a seven-storeyed building Chandra Mahal or Chandra Niwas located at the west end of the palace. Another famous structure here is Diwan-I-Khas was a private audience hall of the Kings which have huge silver vessels of 4000 liters and weighing 340 kilograms.

Diwan-E-Aam also called as Hall of Public Audience is a beautiful building with rich red and gold colors painted inside the hall. There is also a Museum which used to be the Maharani Palace the residence of the Royal Queen which now showcases the weapons used by the royalty. You can also visit Govind Dev Temple built in early 18th century which is dedicated to Lord Krishna.

City Palace Jaipur Timings and Entry Fee

City Palace is open fro tourist from 9.00-17.00 Monday to Sunday and is closed on Diwali / Holi and a select few holidays. The entry fees to the palace is Rs 75 for Indian Nationals and Rs 300 For International Nationals.
