It is one of the best engineering colleges in Jammu and Kashmir. It is located in different locations of Jammu & Kashmir like Hazratbal and Srinagar. It is one of the 30 NITs in India. It was established in 1960 as the Regional Engineering College, Srinagar. The institute shifted to its present campus in 1965. As the Regional Engineering College, the college was affiliated with the University of Kashmir. It was upgraded to become the National Institute of Technology, Srinagar in July, 2003.

Government College of Engineering and Technology:

This College was established in year 1993. It is affiliated to University of Jammu. College offered courses like Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering. The admissions are done on the basis of an Entrance Test conducted by the Board of Professional Entrance Examination of the State Government for the purpose.

It was established in year 1999. The college is situated near Mata Vaishno Devi temple, after which it is named. The college offers courses like Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, Architecture & Landscape Design and Energy Management. It is one of the best colleges in Jammu according to the survey of Outlook magazine.

The University came into existence in the year of 2002. They offer courses like Electronics and Communication, Computer Sciences & Engineering, Information Technology & Telecommunication Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electrical & Renewable Energy Engineering. It is a well known university in Jammu and Kashmir and is recognized by AICTE.

Iqbal Institute of Technology and Management:

It was established in 2006. The college has established an Online Testing Center and a local academy of CISCO. The college is well equipped with good infrastructure and IT facilities like availability of High-speed Wi-Fi internet, spacious classrooms, and labs. The college offers Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Computer application and Master of Computer Application course.
