Kolhapur is a city located in the state of Maharashtra in India. This city is counted among the fastest growing city of the state and previously it known as a 19 gun salute princely state ruled by the royal Bhosale Chhatrapatis of the Maratha Empire. Kolhapur is a city which is located on the banks of river Panchganga and provides the location for the Mahalakshmi Temple which is a great Hindu Pilgrimage.   • In Kolhapur you can start your journey with the Mahalakshmi Temple which is a great Shakti peetha and lots of Hindu pilgrims visit this place. There is a black idol of Mahalakhsmi is settled inside the temple and you can see the Deccan architecture in this temple which are quite similar with other ancient Deccan constructions.You can also see a rich display of sculpture of figurines in various dancing motifs, gods and goddesses musicians, which are dated back to the 19th century.
