Nathdwara is a town located in the state of Rajasthan in India. This city is located on the Aravalli hills, and on the banks of the Banas River. This town is famous for its temple of Krishna which houses the 14th-century idol of Shrinathji that depicts a 7-year-old “infant” in incarnation of Lord Krishna. The idol was originally worshiped at Mathura but it was shifted to Agra for almost six months, in order to protect it from Mughal ruler Aurangzeb who spread anti-Hindu obsessive revolutionary act based on Islamic policies breaking many of the temples of the Hindus.Nathdwara is actually a small town ship that is mostly populated with the Vaishnavites and also recognized as one of the most religious places of the Hindus in the state.

  • In Nathdwara people mostly come to visit the Shri Nathji Temple which is also recognized as one of the holy places for the Hindus in Rajasthan and people from other states also visit this temple with lots of devotion. If you see the structure of this temple then it is a very simple constructed temple but the visual appeal of this temple is eternal and holy. You can see the idol of Shrinathji which is worth adoring and you can feel the cosmic beauty and presence of the Almighty with this idol.
  • The idol of Lord Shrinathji depicts an incarnation of Lord Krishna, when he lifted the ‘Govardhana hill on his small finger to save the people from heavy rain. In the image, you can see the lord is standing with his left hand raised and the right is blocked in a fist. The Srinathji idol is made out from a large black stone and according to local people, the idol is believed to have actually self-manifested from stone that emerged from the Govardhan Hill.You can also see the images of two cows, a lion, a snake, two peacocks and a parrot by the god’s head are imprinted on the idol of ShriNathji.
  • You can also visit the Lord Ganesha Temple which is called as Ganesh Tekdi and this place is very beautiful as you can see some very beautiful garden surrounding this temple.

  • While visiting Nathdwara make sure to not to carry camera or mobile cameras as photography and mobile phones are strictly prohibited in the temple premises.
  • Before entering into the temple premises you may get various guides who will ask you for money and provide you the VIP entry ways, so not fall for them as they are just extorting money as you will not find any such ways.
  • In Nathdwara you can fill up your appetite with some of the mouthwatering dishes like the dhokla, jalebi, faafra, and fried yam as these are yummy delights of this place and do not forget to have the thandai and the masala chai of this place.
  • In Nathdwara do not forget to buy the Pichwai Paintings, terracotta and ivory articles which are the famous ones of this state.
