Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple located in Aranmula, a village in Pathanamthitta District is one of the Divya Desams”, the 108 temples of Vishnu and also one of the most famous temples of Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Parthasarathy as Lord Krishna who did the role of the charioteer of Arjuna in Mahabharata. The temple is among the faous Krishna temple of state along with others being at Guruvayur, Trichambaram, Tiruvarppu and Ambalappuzha.
The temple is located at the bank of River Pampa which is famous for Aranmula Uthrattathi Boat Race which is held every year here near the temple. At the top of the temple there is a golden flag staff and has four towers over its passageways on its external divider. The gigantic wonderful eastern tower is entered through a flight of 18 steps. Dropping 57 steps through the northern tower, one can achieve the Pampa waterway. This temple is a perfect example for Kerala Temple architecture and its structure is very nearly like that of Ettumanor Mahadeva Temple.
