Kamakshi Amman Temple is a famous temple in Kanchipuram. The temple is devoted to the Goddess Shakti. It was built in the seventh century by the Pallava Kings. Later this temple again rebuilt by the Chola dynasty in the 14th century. The Kamakshi Amman Temple is the only traditional temple in Kanchipuram that are dedicated to Goddess Shakti. It is an another famous temple in Kanchipuram dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located at a distance of 4 km from Railway Station and 3 km from the main Kanchipuram Bus Station. As per the people believe the temple is built during the period from 685 A.D. to 705 A.D. by the Pallava king Rajasimha Pallava. The temple is built in red sandstone and the wall is decorated with fresco-style paintings and sculptures of lions and various other sculptures.
