National Gallery Of Modern Art Mumbai was established in 1996 in Colaba in Southern Mumbai. It is one of the best art galleries of India and houses numerous antique collection which dates back to 1857. IT is famous for the collection of some famous artists of the world including Gaganendranath Tagore, M.F. Hussain, F.N. Souza, Amrita Sher-Gil to Picasso. It also have Egyptian artefacts such as mummies, statues, etc.
It was previously known as Sir Cowasji Jehangir Public Hall and later converted to art gallery. It is the famous tourist destination of the city and tourist visit this place to explore the various exhibitions and art collections of famous artists, sculptors and different civilizations. Hosting plenty of exhibitions and events, it promotes not only Indian art but also the international art.
National Gallery Of Modern Art is open to tourist from 10AM to 5 PM and is closed on Mondays and national holidays. Entry fees for the museum is Rs.10 for Indians and Rs.150 for foreigners.
