National Rail Museum is located in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi which sprawls over an area of 10 acres and focuses on the rail heritage of India . It was established in 1977 and have exotic collection of over 100 real size exhibits of Indian Railways. Its pride is a model of India’s very first train, a steam engine that made its journey from Mumbai to Thane in 1853.

The museum includes a vintage collections of trains which include Viceregal Dining Car (1889) the oldest locomotive in the world-still working; the and the Prince of Wales Saloon (1875), Maharaja of Mysore’s Saloon (1899), Maharaja of Baroda’s Saloon (1886). The star attraction is the Fairy Queen, built in 1855, and considered to be the best preserved steam locomotive engines of her age. Children can enjoy a ride on the miniature rail track.

The National Rail Museum is open to tourists from 9.30 AM to 5.00PM except Monday. Entry Fees is Rs 20 For Adults and Rs 0 for Children.
