Salar Jung Museum – Hyderabad
Salar Jung Museum is an art museum and one of the three national museum of the country . It is acknowledged with biggest one-man collections of antiques in the world. It is well known throughout India for its prized collections belonging to different civilizations dating back to the 1st century. Nawab Mir Yusuf Ali Khan Salar Jung III was the man behind the collection of these extraordinary antiques from all over the world.
It has a collection of models, works of art, carvings, materials, original copies, earthenware production, metallic antiquities, covers, tickers, and furniture from Japan, China, Burma, Nepal, India, Persia, Egypt, Europe, and North America. Salar Jung III gathered about 43,000 curios and 50,000 books and original copies out of which just few are shown in today’s historical center.

Inside Salar Jung Museum
The museum is built in semicircular shape with 38 exhibitions, spread on two stories which displays only some of the antiques from original collections. Each gallery is huge and has many antiques on presentation including ones dated back to the 17th century. Some of the most prominent antiques includes The paintings of legendary Raja Ravi Varma, Aurangzeb’s sword, Jade crafted daggers of, Emperor Jehangir, Noorjahan and Shah Jehan, A wardrobe of Tipu Sultan, furniture from Egypt, world famous statue of Veiled Rebecca by G.B. Benzoni.
Museum also contain the Holy Quran from around the World in different fonts and designs.
Salar Jung Museum Timings Entry Fees
Entrance to the Museum is by ticket, the rate of which is Rs.10/- for general public. Students with identity cards are given 50% concession. Besides, defence personnel in uniform, organized Kisan parties and children below 12 years are also given 50% concession. For foreign visitors the fee is Rs. 150/-. The museum is open to tourists from 10:00 to 17:00 except on Fri . Camera/Mobile Camera are allowed for Rs.50/-.
