Bekal Fort located in Kasargod District of Kerala is the largest fort of the state with stunning views of the Arabian sea at its backdrops. This fort was built just for fulfilling defense requirements as looking to its architecture. Bekal served as an important military station of Tipu Sultan when he had the great military expedition to capture Malabar. The Bekal fort was by Sivappa Nayaka in1650 AD and is one of the best preserved forts in Kerala.The Fort is one of the famous tourist destination of Kerala.

Inside Bekal Fort

The fortress spreading over forty acres of land, has gigantic walls of about 12 meters in height constructed of laterite stones. The main door is towards the east and was secured by bastions. A trench encompasses the fortress on the area side. The significant characteristics of this fort are the tank with its flight of steps, the opening of the tunnel towards the south, the magazine for keeping ammo, wide slope prompting the observation tower.

For Indian Tourist : Rs 5/-  per person for Indians and SAARC nationals

For Foreign Tourist : Rs 100/ – per person for foreign nationals
