Nahargarh Fort is located on the rugged ridge of Aravali Hills and it forms an impressive northern backdrop of Jaipur. The fort was originally named Sudarshangarh however the name was changed to Nahargarh, which means ‘abode of tigers’. The Fort was built in 1734 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur. The Fort along with the Amer Fort and Jaigarh Fort built a strong defense ring along the Jaipur City.
