Flora Fountain located in the heart of South Mumbai close-by Shivaji Terminus, was built in 1864 and portrays the Roman goddess Flora. It is a wonderfully chiseled design legacy landmark designed with mythological figures at its corners. It is said that the fountain was orignally built for the Victoria Gardens at Byculla.
The Flora Fountain, encompassed by the British Victorian period heritage buildings, is very much part of the chowk and has been declared a heritage structure and it continues to enchant visitors with its excellence and with its shower of water. It sits outstandingly well alongside with the Hutatma statue which embellishes the chowk.
The area surrounding the fountain gives incredible shopping opportunities in departmental and other stores for ethnic curios and stylish items.
