Thekkady is the place where the popular Periyar National Park is located in the state of Kerala in India. - Thekkady is a place where the main attraction is the Periyar National Park and here you can visit to see the rich fauna of the state. The Periyar Tiger Reserve where you can spot the very beautiful national animal of India and among 62 species of mammals,like Sambar, Gaur,elephants, , tigers, lion-tailed Macaques and Nilgiri Langurs, sloth bear, jungle cat and many others.Here you can also spot rich fauna in vayals, marshes, and a large aquatic habitat where it support 320 species of birds among them Brahminy Kite, great Hornbill, Nilgiri Thrush, black Baza,Malabar Grey Hornbill and many others, 27 species of amphibians, among 45 species of reptiles like striped coral snake, king cobra etc.and among 38 species of fish Periyar barb,Periyar latia,channa barb etc.
- You can also visit the place called Mangladevi Temple which is a temple to the local goddess Mangla Devi and this place is also a great place to view natural beauty and this place is also visited by hundreds of pilgrims from all over the state.
- Do have a visit in Murikkady as this place consists of spices and coffee plantations and you will definitely have a great experience in exploring coffee forest and their aromatic winds will capture your minds.
